Another Successful Book Tour in Oklahoma

Sep 02, 2025 by E. Joe Brown

I hope you all had a pleasant and relaxing Labor Day with family and friends. I'm back from Oklahoma, and I've caught up on my tasks here in the office. The weather during the book tour was cool and rainy, but the people were warm and friendly. As I told my publisher, "I sold some books, saw some old friends, made some new ones, and saw family." That makes for a very successful trip.

This time, everything began in my hometown of Cushing, OK, at the KUSH radio station. Molly Payne, the Program Director, hosted me live on-air for the third time on her morning drive-time show on Friday, August 22nd. How could that have gone better? Well, for Molly, maybe she could have had a better person to interview. However, she and I are very comfortable with each other, and the listeners could hear us having a laid-back conversation. Molly, if you’re reading this, thanks a ton.

The following day, I had my book launch for A Cowboy's Dilemma in Ponca City, OK, at the wonderful bookstore Brace Books and More. Tara Anson and her attentive staff had everything ready, and we enjoyed the afternoon talking with some locals, selling books, and playing a little music. I launched each novel in my Kelly Can Saga series at this store, and we'll be returning with the next one in the series down the road. The next stop was back in Cushing at the library on Monday. Michael Hanes, the Library Director, has become a good friend and supporter. It was rainy and gloomy all day, but we had a friendly group of loyal readers that evening. Michael and I brainstormed after everyone left, and we are planning something for 2026 that will be great. "Film," as they say on TV newscasts.

On Tuesday, the 26th, Linda and I met some of my family at a restaurant in Oklahoma City for lunch. It was great spending time with them before heading to Full Circle Bookstore that evening for a book signing. Full Circle is located at 50 Penn Plaza in northwest Oklahoma City and is the largest bookstore in Oklahoma. They have been around in some form or place since 1970. Assistant Manager and Event Coordinator Steven Zoeller was a fine host, and he placed me near the front entrance and the coffee bar. That worked great for me. I had some family members in the crowd that night. It was great to meet them, and we were able to chat between my signing duties.

We arrived back home the next day and immediately began playing catch-up and preparing to leave for Cody, WY, this week. I’ll be one of the presenters at the James Ersfeld Symposium on Saturday, September 6th, at the Buffalo Bill Center of the West. If you’re in theCody area, this event will be worth attending. Session One starts at 8:30 am. Welcome to September, folks.

Happy Trails,
Joe
