Happy Holidays Friends

Dec 11, 2024 by E. Joe Brown

I hope you and yours had a wonderful Thanksgiving. We look forward to Christmas, Hanukkah, or whatever wintertime holiday you celebrate.

Linda and I are members of several organizations, and each has an event during this time of year that brings us together as family and friends. I sure hope you do, too. I will be with my SouthWest Writer friends on Saturday, December 14th. We’ll share our memories of this year, and I happily look forward to 2025.

On Wednesday, December 18th, Linda and I will enjoy our monthly get-together with our International Western Music Association friends. We will enjoy our music and camaraderie. Several of us will perform a holiday song along with our Westerns. We'll likely see an ugly sweater or two as well.

On Thursday, December 19th, Linda and I will attend our December meeting of the New Mexico Westerners. Our dear friend Jim Jones will lead the group in Christmas songs as he traditionally does. We look forward to this great night.

Of course, we plan to be with family on Christmas Day, and we hope you can, too. That’s how the Browns will spend December. I’ll share something I heard my maternal grandfather say when I was a kid.

"Joey, we're all born into a family. Hopefully, you end up close and enjoy being together. Along the way, you find people you call good friends. You've chosen them. Keep them as close as you would be as a family. They'll be there for you as a family should."

That said, whether it's the family you were born into or the family you've chosen throughout your life, enjoy this season together as much as you can.

Happy Holidays and Happy Trails,
Joe
