The trail just keeps getting better for my Kelly Can Saga! Since the release of Book 3, A Cowboy’s Dilemma, readers everywhere have been talking about the next chapter in Charlie Kelly’s journey. Your support and the success of this book have made me immensely proud. I sure appreciate all the kind words that have come my way. This one’s been a joy to share.
From book clubs and libraries to signings across Oklahoma and New Mexico, A Cowboy’s Dilemma has stirred up some lively conversations. Folks tell me the
empire-building parts of the story have pulled them in—the rise of an oil-field cowboy trying to build something bigger than himself. We’ve talked about those hooks—“From cowboy to oil baron,' to “Legacy and risk,” and “When ambition collides with danger.” Those are big ideas, but they’re also just plain human.
That’s the beauty of Western storytelling. The dust and saddle leather might belong to another time, but the heart of it—loyalty, family, doing the right thing even when it’s hard—still beats strong today. Could Charlie Kelly Ride Onto the Screen?
There’s been a buzz lately, and I’m mighty excited about it. I’ve been talking with screenwriter and director Elizabeth Schrum about the thrilling possibility of bringing the Kelly Can Saga to life as a television or streaming series. Nothing’s carved in stone yet, but the idea sure has legs. The thought of seeing Charlie Kelly and the crew on screen is inspiring.
Elizabeth and I share the same love of storytelling—real people, honest struggles, and the humor that keeps folks going when times get tough. If things move forward, I know she’ll honor the grit and heart that define Charlie Kelly’s world while giving it the cinematic touch it deserves. While plans are still in the early stages, one thing’s clear: readers like you would love to see Charlie Kelly, Susan, and the rest of the crew riding across the screen. I’d Love to Hear from You!
