Meet Me in Saint Louis

Jun 10, 2026 by E. Joe Brown
Saint Louis, Missouri
I know that title comes from a song, and a great one that Judy Garland and many others have recorded. But this time it’s about where I’ll be next week. Linda and I will leave next Tuesday for Saint Louis, Missouri, to attend the 2026 Western Writers of America (WWA) Convention. It will run from June 17th to 20th, 2026, and I recommend you visit the convention website here for the wonderful events.

Natalie Bright and I will host a session focused on some of the life-changing historical events over the past 250 Years since the American Revolution. We’ll have fun with it as we celebrate our country’s birthday. If tradition holds, we’ll have live music as we end every day, with about a half dozen (or more) of us taking turns playing songs to an appreciative crowd. So come and “Meet Me in St. Louis” to learn about the literature, films, music, and culture of the West.

After the convention, Linda and I will leave St. Louis and head south and east for a short vacation, entering Mississippi and visiting the “City Beautiful,” also known as Laurel. Yes, that’s the home of Ben and Erin from the HGTV show Hometown. We watch that show regularly and have wanted to visit there for years. From Laurel, we plan to go through New Orleans and Baton Rouge in Louisiana, Galveston, Houston, and Waco in Texas, and up to Oklahoma, where we’ll visit family at a Reunion before returning home.

We'll be posting photos to my social media to take you along for the ride.

Happy Trails,
Joe
