Maybe This is More of a Newsletter

My goal has always been to offer a blog every two weeks or so. Lately that’s been more of a dream than a reality. BUT, for good reasons. The Western Writers of America (WWA) conference and what I shared last time about new contacts in Oklahoma spurred something in me that has kept me busy at my computer (for sure) but mostly on the road. This will be more of a newsletter than a blog.

I didn’t mention last time that in June we also attended a family reunion for the Kelly family (I know not Charlie’s family, but my mom was a Kelly remember, so I am too) and then in July we returned to Oklahoma to attend my wife’s (Mills) family reunion as well as to allow me to be part of the Day of the Cowboy (DOTC) celebration at the Chisholm Trail Heritage Center in Duncan. So I had a full week between the family reunion and DOTC, and I put that to use by contacting more museums and libraries.

I now have seventeen libraries and five museums that have expressed strong interest in having me come back for a book-signing program in the next few months. I was also able to do two signings in Ada during July and confirm three more for mid-October as we return from Eureka Springs, where I’ll speak at the Ozark Literary Conference.

While I was in Oklahoma, I received an email from my publisher, and they are working on my manuscript for “A Cowboy’s Venture,” which will be the fourth installment of the Kelly Can Saga Series. I was given the first set of edits to work on as soon as possible, so that’s been my focus since returning home. Based on what was written in the email, I think they like where

Charlie’s and Susan’s story is going. I can’t wait to share a definite publication date and begin discussing Venture with you. I will shut this down and get back to the edits the publisher asked for. See ya soon!
